They were in the ark how long? (November 26 2011)
This message talks about a lot of very weighty topics. Because we go through 1 Peter there is in depth discussion about women in marriage, specifically discussion about abuse and how the church has traditionally used these passages to many women’s harm, and discussion about slavery and how these passages have been used in the past (and, sadly, at times in the present) to suggest that it was wrong to oppose slavery. I believe strongly that God’s Word through Peter is full of amazing encouragement for those in unhealthy and toxic situations (abusive marriage and slavery being very unhealthy and toxic situations) and I hope that the discussion here will help create opportunities to challenge some of the traditional interpretations and applications of Peter’s words.
